Artificial intelligence, also known as AI, is advancing pretty fast. The advances brought by this kind of technology are bringing many benefits to humanity, but are taking it too far? It’s my personal opinion on the topic, and it’s intended to create a friendly and informative discussion, because the impact of AI in society is a quite interesting and important topic to discuss nowadays, and we here at iDVDMax.com want to discuss it with you, our reader. So let’s start this article, and don’t forget to leave your comments and share it with your friends.
The Industrial Revolution:
Most of us know of the impact of industrial revolution in society by that far time. Some people argument that the big revolution which is going to be brought by the AI at a given time will have a similar impact – but I have to differ from that way of thinking.
First because the industrial revolution introduced a limited-automation, meaning that men were still required to manage the machines, and this generated jobs for people. With AI it would be radically different, because big factories and corporations would see in these AI machines a better investment in the long term, and this would decrease jobs available to people by a huge percent – which would generate a great crisis, far worse than the one generated by industrial revolution.
And by this I’m not introducing a position against progress, because that would be simply stupid. What I mean is that it would cause a great damage to society and economics, because factories would be likely to produce the same products with the same quality but at a cheaper costs than hiring humans to do the job.
That’s why I consider that AI should be directed towards specific areas. It seems like a retrograde way of thinking, but that’s the truth. We have to think about our people first, because to think about them and how AI can literally destroy their lives. And this is not a socialist non-sense way of thinking, because I consider that people MUST work and don’t rely on welfare, but we shouldn’t make it any harder for them to get a job. And AI is likely to reduce the number of jobs available.
According to my opinion the introduction of pretty advanced AI to the industries would generate a pretty negative result in the long term. This is likely to create chaos in society, and we all should work to preserve peace and work for a better civilization. Technology is precious and must be considered as one of the most important aspects of human civilization, but we shouldn’t allow it to affect us – we should use it smartly. We should limit ourselves to using it in specific areas where the loss of jobs would be minimal, where people would be the least affected, because we must maintain a status quo, and the introduction of AI in the wrong areas, will generate a terrible chaos for us all.
